Ru Begum, Founder of Boss Women & Mona Living
My name is Ru, I’m a mum of 3 children who are now 16, 15 & 14 years old. Like a lot of mothers, I juggled motherhood, being a home maker whilst trying to balance a career in care and then in the retail sector.
As someone who values independence, I worked hard to give my children as much independence as possible. And as my children found their independence, this allowed me to question my position.
I used to say “I am a question mark?” because I didn’t known what my main passion was so I started to explore that unknown.
I then discovered that I had a keen interest in skincare and went on to launch my skincare range, Mona Living.
As my skincare line drew attention, I soon realised that so many of the people I was speaking to were in the same position as me as before. They had the question mark.
And this gave me an idea that we should empower women and celebrate the success they’ve made. That’s how Boss Women, a women empowerment initiative, was born.
A large part of my success has been down to Instagram and support I have received from IIEPD, especially when I hosted Boss Women’s first event.
